Since this was the first time we took the van out and I wasn’t sure how mechanically sound it was, we decided to go somewhere close by. What’s closer than Campland on the Bay? Nothing!
Ok, so it’s only about 10 miles away, but it’s still camping. We got there around 2pm, which is checkin time. The thing about Campland is, they have every amenity you can think of. There is a store, a restaurant, a bar, a stage that has entertainment throughout the summer, a pool, a skatepark, a dog park, boat rentals and much more. I lived in San Diego for 24 years and I can’t believe this is the first time I stayed there.
The staff is very cool and friendly. Bathrooms are clean and maintained throughout the day. It’s not the cheapest. It cost us about $120 per night, but we had electricity and water hookups. We did get a 20% discount for being San Diego locals.
Overall it is a great place. I plan on going to different places now, but this was definitely a great place to “get my feet wet”.
